Qatar Scientific Club Honors Winners of 9th Innovation and Research Exhibition
Qatar Scientific Club honored winners of its 9th Innovation and Research Exhibition in Doha, recognizing 61 student projects from nearly 290 submissions.
The Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) recently honored the winners of its 9th Scientific Exhibition for Innovation and Research in Doha. The event recognized students for their achievements in scientific inquiry, celebrating their dedication and innovative spirit. The exhibition was designed to promote a culture of scientific research and innovation among students, fostering interest and development in these key fields within Qatar's educational landscape.
Exhibition Scope and Participation
The exhibition showcased 61 projects and scientific studies that successfully advanced to the final round. These finalists emerged from nearly 290 submissions, which underwent multiple stages of rigorous evaluation and judging by expert committees. Students from various educational levels participated broadly in the exhibition, presenting their innovative work and demonstrating a strong commitment to scientific exploration. Organisers commended the dedicated efforts of the judging committees and technical teams involved in the event, whose careful work ensured a fair and thorough assessment of all entries. Among the recognized projects, one specifically focused on producing bioplastic from bananas, securing second place at the primary school level.
Competition Notes and Winners
The first day of the exhibition focused exclusively on presenting research projects from the “Researcher” competition, featuring entries from primary and preparatory students. This initial phase allowed younger participants to share their scientific inquiries and findings. The second day showcased projects from both the “Researcher” and “Innovation” competitions, this time involving secondary school students, noting a broader range of scientific and technological advancements.
In the school innovation competition, the project titled “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Machine Learning for User Behaviour Analysis in Cybersecurity” from Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys secured first place, demonstrating advanced application of AI in a critical field. The project “NeuroStride,” which focused on the early detection of Parkinson’s disease using artificial intelligence, was awarded second place in the same category, showcasing innovative solutions for health challenges. Third place in the school innovation competition went to a project from Qatar School for Girls, which designed an integrated robotic system equipped with an automatic soil-feeding mechanism, addressing practical agricultural needs.
For the secondary level of the “Researcher” competition, the study “Automated Irrigation System Using Open-Source Technology” from Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys earned first place, reflecting a practical approach to environmental management. A study centered on detecting myopia through the use of neural networks achieved second place, noting advancements in medical diagnostics. A project designing a technological system to reduce impulsive behaviour among individuals with autism placed third in the secondary “Researcher” competition, offering a novel application of technology for social support.
At the preparatory level, the research project “Rafi,” which supports communication for children with Down syndrome using technology and artificial intelligence, received first place, showing the power of AI for inclusive communication. Another project converting sign language into written and spoken language using artificial intelligence secured second place at the preparatory level, further demonstrating technological applications for accessibility. A project on safe vehicle speed control and emergency health alerts was awarded third place, focusing on critical safety and health applications. At the primary school level, a project designing a sustainable smart home integrating renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and smart agriculture won first place, showcasing foresight in sustainable living. The project producing bioplastic from bananas took second place, offering an eco-friendly material alternative. The "Drink Link" smart project placed third at the primary school level, completing the list of honored young innovators.
