Qatar Airways announced it will launch flights to Caracas, Venezuela, and Bogotá, Colombia, starting in July 2026. This significant expansion will make Qatar Airways the first airline to operate flights from the Middle East to both South American cities, establishing a direct and unprecedented air link. The new routes are set to enhance connectivity between the Middle East and the Americas, opening up new travel and trade opportunities.

Flight Details and Schedule

Qatar Airways will operate two weekly flights to Caracas and Bogotá, providing consistent service for travelers. These services are specifically scheduled for every Wednesday and Sunday, ensuring regular connections between the continents. The flights, identified as QR783, will depart Doha (DOH) at 7:30 AM local time. Following its departure from the Qatari capital, Flight QR783 is scheduled to arrive in Bogotá (BOG) at 4:05 PM local time. This timing allows for convenient daytime travel and arrival in the Colombian capital.

From Bogotá, Flight QR783 will continue its journey to Caracas (CCS), departing at 5:35 PM local time. The flight is expected to arrive in the Venezuelan capital at 8:40 PM local time, completing the outbound leg of the journey. The return journey, also designated as Flight QR783, will depart Caracas (CCS) at 10:40 PM local time. This overnight service is estimated to arrive back in Doha (DOH) at 7:55 AM the following day, offering passengers a full night's rest before returning to the airline's global hub. The total flight duration for the Doha-Bogotá-Caracas route will be approximately 17 hours and 10 minutes, including the layover in Bogotá. This full schedule is designed to optimize travel times and offer maximum convenience for passengers.

Strategic Network Expansion

The introduction of these new services is expected to significantly bolster Qatar Airways' global network, offering key onward connections through its advanced hub at Hamad International Airport. These new routes will link Caracas and Bogotá directly to a wide array of international destinations, including major markets such as Australia, China, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea, and the UAE, facilitating smooth travel for both business and leisure passengers. With the addition of Caracas and Bogotá, Qatar Airways' Americas network expands significantly, now encompassing a total of 16 destinations across the region. These two vibrant South American cities become the airline’s 15th and 16th destinations in the Americas, marking a substantial expansion for the carrier's footprint in the Western Hemisphere.

Qatar Airways initially launched its operations in South America in 2010, beginning with flights to São Paulo, Brazil. Since then, the airline has steadily grown its presence, reflecting its long-term commitment to the continent. The airline's continued growth in the Americas shows its overarching strategy to increase global connectivity and provide passengers with more diverse and convenient travel options. This strategic move reinforces Qatar Airways' position as a leading global airline, dedicated to bridging continents and fostering international connections.

Market Significance and Reach

Qatar Airways' expansion into Caracas and Bogotá signifies a notable enhancement of its market position and global reach. This move is particularly significant as the airline will become the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela, establishing a direct air link between the Middle East and a key South American nation that has previously seen limited direct connectivity from this region. This development is expected to open new avenues for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between these geographically distant yet increasingly connected regions.

The introduction of these routes reinforces Qatar Airways' strategy to expand its network and offer more full connectivity to passengers worldwide, particularly those traveling to and from South America. By connecting Caracas and Bogotá to its award-winning hub at Hamad International Airport, the airline aims to facilitate travel to a wide array of destinations, including major markets in Asia and Oceania, which were previously less accessible from these South American cities. This strategic move shows the airline's ambition to solidify its presence in the Americas and strengthen its competitive standing in the international aviation sector, providing a vital bridge between diverse global economies and cultures.
