Doha, June 01 (QNA) – The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) announced the integration of Al Waab Health Center into its network of facilities providing weekend services. This significant expansion of primary healthcare services will take effect from next Friday. The inclusion of Al Waab Health Center marks a strategic step by the Primary Health Care Corporation to bolster community access to medical care. The addition means Al Waab Health Center will offer medical care to the community on weekends, enhancing accessibility for residents and ensuring essential health services are available outside of regular weekday hours. The announcement by the Primary Health Care Corporation shows its commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the population.

Expanded Weekend Access

The inclusion of Al Waab Health Center brings the total number of primary healthcare facilities operating on weekends across Qatar to 22. This increase signifies a substantial enhancement in the availability of medical services during non-weekday hours, making healthcare more convenient for individuals and families. These 22 centers are strategically located to provide essential medical services to residents across various regions, ensuring that a broad segment of the population can access care when needed most. The expansion reflects a concerted effort to distribute healthcare resources more effectively throughout the State of Qatar.

The expanded network of weekend-operating health centers now encompasses a wide geographical area. This includes Musheireb, Al Sheehaniya, Muaither, Al Ruwais, Umm Salal, Madinat Khalifa, and Leabaib. Additional centers offering weekend services are Al Khor, Gharrafat Al Rayyan, Al Waab, Al Matar, West Bay, Omar Bin Al Khattab, Al Wakra, Rawdat Al Khail, Al Thumama, Al Mashaf, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq, and Al Wajba. Al Jemailiya operates on an on-call basis to support weekend healthcare needs, providing key support in more remote areas. This full coverage ensures that residents across diverse communities have reliable access to primary healthcare services during weekends.

PHCC Service Network

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) currently operates 31 health centers throughout the State of Qatar. This extensive network ensures widespread access to medical services for the population, forming the backbone of primary healthcare provision in the country. The operation of 31 health centers notes the PHCC's commitment to building a strong and accessible healthcare infrastructure. Among these facilities, a specialized network of 15 health centers provides 24-hour urgent care services specifically for adults, addressing critical medical needs around the clock. These 24-hour centers are integral to managing urgent, non-emergency cases, thereby alleviating pressure on hospital emergency departments and providing timely care to adult patients. Complementing its in-person services, PHCC also offers an urgent telephone consultation service. This service is accessible via the hotline 16000 and is available from Sunday to Thursday, providing remote medical advice and support to residents. The telephone consultation service offers an additional layer of support, enabling individuals to receive professional medical guidance without needing to visit a physical center, further enhancing convenience and accessibility.

Broader Healthcare Goals

The expansion of weekend primary healthcare services, including the integration of Al Waab Health Center, aligns with Qatar's broader objectives for its healthcare system. The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for residents across the State of Qatar. By extending service hours and geographic coverage, PHCC seeks to support the community's health needs more comprehensively, ensuring that high-quality care is available when and where it is required. These strategic developments contribute to the national health strategy, which emphasizes the provision of high-quality, patient-centered care and ensures medical services are readily available outside of standard weekday operations, reflecting a commitment to public welfare. The continuous improvement and expansion of primary healthcare services are central to Qatar's vision for a healthy and thriving population, reinforcing the nation's dedication to strong public health infrastructure.
